Brainless or Brainwashed

Religion- the belief in and worship of a God or gods (as defined by Oxford Dictionary). But seems like people have misconstrued it as 'Religion - to make the others change their belief and make them worship the god you believe in. Recently Kandhamal in Orissa and many other places in the past, unfortunately, has been a prey to this (mis) understanding.

Being a resident of I.C. Colony (Indian Christian Colony) in Borivali, I remember so many times walking on the streets and being stopped by these so called disciples of Christ who first ask your name just to know which religion you belong to. Once they know you are not a Christian, they make a desperate attempt explaining how irrational and unreal your religion in particular is. They then give you the facts and figures about Christianity and how only Jesus Christ is the TRUE LORD.

I believe in HUMANITY, I am not against or with any religion. It's a matter of personal belief. But I never understood why do these people belonging to any religion - Hinduism, Christianity, Islam- have to induce anybody and everybody they come across to practice their religion. Is it about the number game or about earning a name in the religious society to be known as the highest 'Converter'? Are these people brainless or brainwashed?

Whatever it is, all this has led to endless religious riots, murders of thousands of innocent people and hatred amongst the hearts and minds of people based on religion. The ones who have been affected by these religious riots are sure to gather thousands more to violently fight against the believers of other religion who caused harm to them, simply based on 'religion'. Even if they don't engage in any exhibitive activity, they have definitely developed a prejudice, biasness against people belonging to that particular religion. This will reflect every time he / she deals with people of that religion- in the train, bus, job, social gatherings- everywhere. Thus, ensuring it to be a never ending story.

How many of us actually adopt a specific religion by studying all religions, understanding the philosophy of each one and then consciously make a decision which is the one we believe in and then adopt? Most of us, or rather almost all of us inherit it from our family. If instead of Hindu family, I was born in a Muslim family, I would have been a Muslim. Irrespectively, I think living in a democratic and liberal country, we should let people think for themselves. THE BIGGER PICTURE OF ALL RELIGIONS IS "HUMANITY". Unfortunately, most of us are missing this intended and only point that any religion wants to teach us.

No one is going to give you a place in heaven, Jannat or a promising rebirth by bad mouthing other religions, by killing people, by converting them to your own belief, using it as a weapon to gain votes. To find a place in heaven, all we as human beings have to do is- "BEING HUMAN" and not be BRAINLESS nor BRAINWASHED!!

Happiness,
Kally

In Bible Jesus says :-
Matt. 24: 14
14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

Mark 16: 15
15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.HE said unto THEM
Many Christains believe this means it is the duty of all Christians to preach about Jesus and try to convert people to Christianity.

But, I do not think this is what Christ meant - to create a institution of church with pope, bishops and priests and a group of ppl and then try to induct as many ppl in to this group.

what he meant was to tell ppl about loving each other, to follow Gods will.

He says :-

"Not every one who says to Me, "Lord, Lord," shall enter the Kingdom of Heaven, but he who does
the will of My Father Who is in heaven. On that Day many will say to me, "Lord, Lord, did we not
prophesy in Your Name, and cast out demons in Your Name, and do many mighty works in Your
Name?" And then will I declare to them, "I never knew you; depart from Me, you evildoers."

I think these people are confused about converting to the religion and converting to God's way or rather they think its one and the same.

They are ignorant - ignore them. Thats the best way to deal them.

Brilliant thought..even i feel the same.. there should be only one religion that is HUMANITY and only one god that is yourself. In general HUMAN.I meant to say that you have only yourself to believe in or trust upon but nobody else.
